Glass and Aluminum Garage Doors in Palm Beach County, FL.

Glass-and-aluminum garage doors are the signature contemporary style for Palm Beach County coastal homes and new construction. The aluminum frame is corrosion-resistant for Florida humidity; the glass panels (with hurricane-rated impact options) provide natural light and modern aesthetics.

Full-view doors (no horizontal cross-rails between glass panels) are the premium tier — common in Hypoluxo Island, modern Boca Raton, and the newer Acreage builds. Frosted or tinted glass provides privacy while keeping the natural-light benefit. Clear glass works for properties where the garage interior is a feature (custom workshops, car-collector spaces).

HVHZ-compliant glass-and-aluminum installs use impact-rated laminated glass — same construction as hurricane-rated windows. Insurance discount documentation included.

Glass + aluminum door deep-dive

Why coastal PBC homes pick glass + aluminum.

Glass-and-aluminum garage doors are the signature look of coastal South Florida modernism. The aluminum frame is rust-resistant — important within a mile of the Atlantic — and the glass panels let natural light flood the garage, which is often a workspace, gym, or auto display in higher-end PBC homes. We install glass-aluminum doors most often in Manalapan, Boca, Palm Beach, Highland Beach, and Gulf Stream.

The glass options matter.

  • Clear tempered — fully see-through. Maximum light. Use for showroom-style garages.
  • Frosted / obscure — privacy. Light passes through but no visibility. Our most-installed option for street-facing coastal homes.
  • Tinted (smoke, bronze) — heat rejection. Reduces solar gain on west-facing garages.
  • Laminated impact — required for hurricane code east of US-1. Two glass layers bonded with a polymer interlayer. Tempered shatters; laminated holds together after impact.

FL hurricane code is non-negotiable here.

Any glass-aluminum door east of US-1 in PBC must use laminated impact-rated glass with FL Product Approval listing. Standard tempered glass is not code-compliant in the wind zone. We quote impact glass by default for any coastal install — adding it after the fact requires replacing the panels, which roughly doubles the cost.

Aluminum frame considerations.

Powder-coated aluminum is far more salt-air-resistant than steel. The frame won't rust through. But the rollers, hinges, and springs behind the door are still steel — we install galvanized coastal-grade hardware as standard on every glass-aluminum job east of US-1.
