Garage door roller replacement.
Same-day Palm Beach County dispatch from our Lantana and Loxahatchee offices. Free phone diagnostic. Written warranty on every job.
Most Palm Beach County garage doors have 10 rollers — five on each side track. They're the wheels that let the door slide up and down. When rollers fail, the door starts grinding, then squeaking, then rattling up the track. Eventually one seizes and pulls the door off-track entirely.
Cheap builder-grade nylon rollers — the kind installed in 90% of 1990s-2000s PBC homes — don't survive Florida humidity past about year 10. The unsealed metal bearings inside the roller corrode, the nylon wheel deforms slightly, and you get the classic 'door sounds like a freight train' problem.
We replace with sealed-bearing nylon rollers as our standard upgrade. Sealed bearings keep humidity and corrosion out of the wheel mechanism. The difference is immediate — a 12-year-old door with full roller replacement sounds like a brand new door when it cycles.
Common symptoms.
Grinding or rattling sound when cycling
Most common roller-failure signal. Bearings have corroded and rollers are dragging instead of rolling. $185–$245 full set.
High-pitched squeak that gets worse over time
Lubricant has worn out and metal bearings are scraping. Sometimes a $35 lubrication fix; usually time for replacement at the 10-year mark.
Door wobbles or jerks side-to-side as it moves
Multiple rollers worn unevenly. Replace as a set; replacing only 2-3 leaves the other worn ones to fail soon.
Visible rust or cracked nylon
Replace before they fail catastrophically and pull the door off-track. $185–$245.
Door already off-track
Roller failure often causes this. Re-track + new rollers + check track alignment: $245–$385.

Common questions.
How often should I replace garage door rollers?
Every 10–12 years for builder-grade nylon. Every 15+ years for sealed-bearing upgrades. Sooner if the door cycles 6+ times daily (busy household).
Are nylon or steel rollers better?
Sealed-bearing nylon is the modern standard. Nearly silent, corrosion-resistant, and lasts 50–100% longer than open-bearing steel.
Can I just lubricate them instead?
Lubrication can extend roller life 2–3 years if done before the bearings corrode. After visible rust appears, lubrication is a temporary fix at best.
Do you replace rollers and hinges together?
Often we recommend it. Hinges are inexpensive and they age at the same rate as rollers. Adding hinges to a roller job is usually $45–$75 incremental.
