Garage door opener installation.
Same-day Palm Beach County dispatch from our Lantana and Loxahatchee offices. Free phone diagnostic. Written warranty on every job.
Florida Building Code has required battery-backup openers on every new install since July 2019. That single rule is why most opener replacements we do in Palm Beach County are full unit upgrades rather than fix-the-old-one repairs. If your current opener doesn't have a battery on the side, it's not code-compliant and needs to go.
Our default LiftMaster jackshaft is wall-mounted (not ceiling), ultra-quiet, Wi-Fi-native with MyQ built in, and ships with a hardwired battery backup that lasts 4–5 years. It's the right opener for almost every PBC home. For homes with 10-foot doors or unusual configurations, we step up to the chain-drive or a heavier 1HP unit.
Installation is typically a 2-hour job for a standard 16x7 door. We remove the old opener, mount the new motor, attach the opener arm or jackshaft drive, install and align the photo-eye sensors, hardwire the battery backup, program 2 remotes and 1 keypad, set up MyQ on your phone, and walk you through every feature. Permits handled when required.
Common symptoms.
Old opener pre-2019 (no battery backup)
Not FL Code compliant for any new install. Insurance discount also typically requires battery backup. Upgrade time.
Want phone control / smart home integration
LiftMaster MyQ pairs with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home Bridge. Set up during install.
Garage ceiling is too low or unusual
Jackshaft openers (wall-mount instead of ceiling-mount) solve cathedral ceilings, post-frame ceilings, or storage-rail conflicts.
Current opener too loud
Belt-drive and jackshaft motors are dramatically quieter than chain-drives. Big upgrade if your garage shares a wall with a bedroom.
Heavy custom door or 10-foot height
Standard 1/2 HP openers strip their gears on heavy doors. Upgrade to 3/4 HP or 1 HP for proper longevity.
Hurricane-rated install requires it
Code-compliant impact installs require code-compliant opener. We bundle the opener into the install package.

Common questions.
Why does my opener need a battery backup?
Florida law (HB-871 effective July 2019) requires battery-backup garage door openers on all new residential installations. The reason: hurricanes and power outages. Without battery backup you can't open the garage to evacuate.
What's the difference between a chain drive, belt drive, and jackshaft opener?
Chain drives use a metal chain to pull the door — loud but reliable. Belt drives use a rubber belt — much quieter, slightly pricier. Jackshaft openers mount on the wall beside the door (not the ceiling) and are the quietest. We default to jackshaft for most PBC installs.
Will my old remotes still work?
Probably not. Modern LiftMaster openers use Security+ 2.0 encryption that's incompatible with pre-2011 remotes. New remotes come with the install.
Can you install on a 10-foot door?
Yes — we use a heavy-duty 1HP unit for tall doors. Springs, tracks, and opener arms all change at 10' height; we adjust accordingly.
How long does the MyQ setup take?
within range once the opener is mounted. You download the MyQ app on your phone, scan a QR code on the opener, and the connection is automatic.
